Specjalność Przekład w komunikacji międzykulturowej oferowana w ramach kierunku filologia słowiańska koncentruje się na równowadze efektów kształcenia w zakresie wiedzy, umiejętności i kompetencji społecznych. Absolwent studiów II stopnia w specjalności: przekład w komunikacji międzykulturowej biegle posługuje się pierwszym i drugim językiem kierunkowym, potrafi tłumaczyć złożone teksty artystyczne, użytkowe i specjalistyczne (wśród nich m.in. korespondencję handlową, dokumentację prawną, ekonomiczną czy techniczną), również z użyciem narzędzi do komputerowego wspomagania tłumaczenia. Dzięki treningowi w laboratoriach tłumaczeniowych jest specjalistą w zakresie tłumaczenia symultanicznego i konsekutywnego. Studia slawistyczne kompleksowo przygotowują absolwenta tych specjalności do wykonywania zawodu tłumacza oraz pozwalają mu ubiegać się o uzyskanie uprawnień tłumacza przysięgłego.

Studenckie praktyki zawodowe w wymiarze 80 godzin są obowiązkowe dla studentów studiów M-2, kierunku filologia słowiańska, którzy ukończyli co najmniej pierwszy semestr studiów II stopnia. Studenci odbywają je zgodnie z profilem kształcenia w biurach podróży, w redakcjach gazet, w firmach i urzędach itp. Na równi z odbyciem praktyki może być traktowana udokumentowana – zgodna z profilem kształcenia – praca zawodowa studenta oraz wolontariat. Zaliczenie praktyki zawodowej odbywa się na podstawie raportu poświadczonego przez pracodawcę. Celem studenckich praktyk zawodowych jest, zgodnie z zarządzeniem Rektora UŚ, rozwijanie umiejętności wykorzystania wiedzy zdobytej na studiach, kształtowanie umiejętności niezbędnych w przyszłej pracy zawodowej; przygotowanie studenta do samodzielności i odpowiedzialności za powierzone mu zadania; stworzenie dogodnych warunków do aktywizacji zawodowej studenta na rynku pracy. Praktyki zawodowe obowiązujące studentów slawistyki odbywają się zgodnie z Regulaminem Praktyk przyjętym przez Radę Wydziału Filologicznego. Warunkiem ukończenia studiów jest złożenie, w formie określonej w programie kształcenia, pracy dyplomowej i egzaminu dyplomowego.
