Description:
The subject "Culture of English Speaking Countries 1 (Culture of Great Britain)" aims to familiarise the students with the issues concerning contemporary British culture, its specificity and directions in development. The issues discussed comprise: national and regional identity, the shaping of culture and theories of culture in chosen social and political contexts, as well as representations of Britishness in chosen texts of culture. Special emphasis is placed on the contemporary social, political and cultural situation in the United Kingdom and on the evolving image of the country during the last decade of the 20th and the first two decades of the 21st century
