Description: | The module Culture of English speaking countries 2 (Culture of the USA) aims to familiarise the students with the issues concerning American culture, its specificity and directions in development. During the course, comprehensive knowledge of culture is provided, from the skills concerning the analysis of terminology connected with cultural studies, through text analysis, the features of various communication codes from different subfields of culture, to the awareness of the mechanisms operating within governmental and cultural institutions, and to the comprehension of key processes that shape human identity and their importance to the multicultural society. Special emphasis is placed on the contemporary social, political and cultural situation in the USA. |
