Description:
The course provides an overview of the history of speculative fiction and the contemporary trends affecting the subgenres of this mode of literature. The course focuses on generic characteristics, world building, speculative fiction’s cross-generic significance, and speculative fiction’s presence in the literary canon. Particular attention is paid to the influence speculative fiction exerts on interactive entertainment industries. The detailed course syllabus is decided on by the instructor and includes interpretations of selected works from both the canon of speculative fiction and its most recent manifestations.
