Description:
The aim of the lectures in History of British Literature is to provide students with an outline of British literature from its earliest, Old English, period to the present. The lectures present historical and cultural background as well as relations of influential texts and writers with other phenomena and figures important for British history and culture. The lectures also survey main cultural and literary currents as well as the ways they are related to major British literary texts. The lectures are complemented by classes during which students work with the most important and influential literary texts of relevant periods.
