Description:
The module aims to develop students’ translation or interpreting competence by familiarizing them with characteristics and practices within the chosen field of translation. Students are offered a choice between particular course proposals, covering different types of translation, such as translation for the media or interpreting (consecutive or simultaneous). Students learn translation methods and techniques related to the chosen type of translation, and develop their translation or interpretating skills, working with texts that are diverse in genre, function, are appropriate to different types of media and fields of life and knowledge, and have varying degrees of complexity. Depending on the course selection the module may also to familiarize students with specialized translation tools and software, or – in interpreting courses – to further students’ awareness of the significance of non-verbal communication, pronunciation, intonation, etc.
