Description: | The elective module in translation studies offers a selection of original courses: students choose specific courses from course proposals covering various aspects of translation theory. Depending on students' selection, two or more courses can be taught in the semester. The contents of individual courses are variable, but they are framed within the context of selected topics in cultural aspects of translation studies. The aim of the module is to provide students with in-depth knowledge of selected research methodologies in selected translation studies, especially in their cultural, literary, or media dimensions. Thus, course proposals may include the study of translation as a cultural phenomenon and various other aspects of cultural translation, postcolonial aspects of translation, theory of literary translation, contemporary theories of cognitive translation studies, media translation theory, etc. The offered courses may be monographic – focusing, for instance, on the study of specific translation strategies or texts – or more general survey courses covering particular translation theories. |
