Description:
The purpose of North American art lectures is to familiarize students with the periodization of the history of North American art from Native American art to the present day and recent works. Lectures explore the historical and cultural background and connections of works of art and figures influential in the development of art and culture to other phenomena important to American culture, such as colonization, religious trends, war, and political change. Lectures are also designed to familiarize students with North American art history terminology and techniques for analyzing works of art.
