Description:
The aim of this course is to further develop students’ skills of editing and revising an academic text using information technology tools. During the course, students become acquainted with more advanced aspects of editing and proofreading as well as the rules of selected style manuals. Students develop IT skills related to text editing, data processing and presentation (e.g. MS Excel, databases, multimedia presentation programs), and using bibliography managers. As a result of the course, students attain an advanced level of knowledge of text editing programs, allowing them to edit their diploma paper and other academic texts independently. The technical competences acquired during the course include: preparing bibliographies and footnotes according to selected style manuals, knowledge of word processing software, advanced functions of word processing programs, editing shared documents, using spreadsheets and basic databases in terms of data collection and presentation, working with bibliography managers and scholarly databases.
