Description: | The purpose of the course is to present and discuss the most important facts in the history of Canada focusing primarily on the position of Canada as a participant in international processes and social processes defining Canadian identity/ identities. A detailed syllabus will include, among others, the following topics: the colonial history of Canada, role and position of Canada in the foreign policy of France, Great Britain and the British Commonwealth, foreign policy of Canada towards European countries and the European Union, the most important social and demographic processes presented in a historical perspective, immigration and immigration policy as well as the evolution of the political system. A significant part of the course is to enhance students’ critical analysis of historical processes and their impact on other interdisciplinary fields of humanities research. |
