Description:
The course of the module intercultural communication aims at: providing students with general pedagogical knowledge, including intercultural pedagogy indispensable for understanding the socio-cultural context of communication and its significance for education, resocialization work and self-development; acquiring competences to create students' own existence (shaping personal, social, cultural, etc. identity) and to create identity of the individual/learner/client; understanding interrelations between the environment and fulfilling individual needs and interpersonal relations between representative of different groups; developing the need for studying and the ability to analyse scientific texts, independently formulate, classify and solve pedagogical problems and educational situations. Students acquire knowledge concerning culture, cultural diversification and its consequences for interpersonal interaction and communication, knowledge of stereotypes and prejudices, communication (language, non-verbal and verbal communication), social perception and intercultural experiences in multicultural conditions, competences to intercultural communication. They acquire skills of communication with people coming from various cultural regions and of cooperation with representatives of public services engaged in broadly understood support in multicultural environments. At workshops, students develop their cultural sensitivity and communication skills in interpersonal relations, modify stereotypes and prejudices at anti-discriminatory workshops.
