Description:
The scope of the subject includes current knowledge about the causes, effects of degradation of various elements of the environment, the classification of degraded and devastated areas as well as various methods of reclamation and management of anthropogenically transformed areas, natural processes occurring in post-industrial areas, as well as the possibility of shaping and creating habitats in degraded areas using relevant plant and animal species. Knowledge of the basic methods of reclamation and revitalization of degraded areas corresponds to the basic principles of Polish law and the implemented European Union law. It points to the latest theoretical and practical achievements in reclamation of degraded areas and discusses contemporary research programs and prospects for further research.

Basic knowledge of plant and animal diversity, ecology.
