Description: | Culture of English speaking countries intends to familiarise the students with the issues concerning contemporary British culture, its specificity and directions in development. The issues discussed comprise: national and regional identity, the shaping of culture and theories of culture in different contexts, as well as representations of Britishness in various texts of culture. Considerable emphasis is placed on the contemporary socio-cultural situation in the United Kingdom and on the evolving image of the UK during the last decade of the 20th and the first decade of the 21st century |
