Description:
The seminar is intended to provide students with knowledge and skills required for writing a master's thesis on a selected problem in the area of business law, arbitration, or another issue closely related to the International Business Law and Arbitration study programme. Accordingly, students learn how to identify, analyse and solve research problems using available literature, case-law and different research methods. At the same time, they learn how to find the right references, how to use them and how to document it in the form of footnotes, endnotes etc. in the paper.

Master's thesis subject selection [S_w_1]
The first stage of the diploma seminar classes concludes with the selection of a topic for what will become a master's thesis. The selection is preceded by a careful identification and study of key research problems in a selected area of the law. When justifying their choice of a topic, students can present their own view on the issue they've decided to explore in their theses.

Presentation of key assumptions and a list of references [S_w_2]
The second stage of the master's thesis elaboration process concludes with a presentation of the key assumptions for the thesis, submitted in the form of a list of problems/issues the student will explore in his or her work. Also to be submitted at this point is a list of references and case-law the student will likely use to write the thesis.

The student deepens his or her knowledge of a selected area of law related to the study programme. The student actively searches for relevant literature and case-law, draws up a thesis plan and a list of references, and writes and submits the thesis.
