Description:
The course consists of 60 contact hours (practical grammar and conversation) during which students build vocabulary on the basis of textbook texts and articles; they work in pairs, groups or present their opinions in front of the group. Texts and lexical material give students an insight into German-speaking countries. Students practice listening and reading comprehension and acquire new grammatical and lexical skills, concentrating on the relationship between grammatical and lexical structures. They learn new collocations, synonyms, antonyms and word families. Grammatically correct communication and metalanguage awareness are the focal point. Students are able to apply German pronunciation rules. The course aims to give students full perceptual competence and eliminate L1 interference. Some classes take place in the phonetic laboratory with individual booths equipped with computers. Students practise pronunciation listening to the files sent by the teacher, record their utterances and compare them with the original recordings. Students practice reading, listening, writing and speaking skills on the basis of Goethe Institut tests for the international B1 and B2 certificates. Poland in the EU, sport, the Internet: opportunities and threats, advertising— past and present, car accidents, leisure time in the city – pros and cons, housing problems: solution suggestions, my dream flat, poverty in Poland and abroad, Course content (grammar): verbs in set phrases, various noun declension patterns, declension of personal pronouns, the definite, indefinite and zero article, possessive pronouns, demonstrative and indefinite pronouns, numerals, the adjective: declension and use, comparing adjectives, adjectives followed by prepositions, adverbs: types and use, adverbs followed by the accusative, dative and genitive case: meaning and use.
