Description: | The main objective of the module is extending students’ knowledge of selected aspects of second language acquisition and raising their awareness of
the relationships between the current knowledge on SLA and the methodology of foreign language learning. The module is cross-sectional: during
lectures students get familiarised with theories and empirical research findings related to a) second language acquisition by adults, b) SLA processes in
the foreign language classroom, c) first and second language acquisition by children. During classes students focus on the practical implications of the
research findings for teaching different language subsystems and language skills. The interactive character of both lectures and classes fosters the
development of higher order thinking skills: drawing conclusions, formulating and presenting personal opinions, comparing and contrasting different |
