Materials testing methods 1 Field of study: Materials Science and Engineering
Programme code: 08-S1MAA16.2018

Module name: Materials testing methods 1
Module code: IM1A_MBM1
Programme code: 08-S1MAA16.2018
Semester: winter semester 2019/2020
Language of instruction: English
Form of verification: exam
ECTS credits: 4
Description:
The module Materials testing methods 1 shall enable that students learn about phenomena and principles of operation and design of research instruments, which are applied in measuring techniques and methods used to characterise the structure and basic properties of engineering materials. Owing to that students shall master operation of scientific-research instruments and acquire the skill to interpret measurement results. The understanding of phenomena and principles of operation shall result in a skilful application of appropriate testing technique to assess materials structure and properties.
Prerequisites:
It is required to achieve effects of education of physics, chemistry, and crystallography modules.
Key reading:
1. Z. Bojarski, E. Łągiewka, „Rentgenowska analiza strukturalna” PWN, Warszawa, 1988. 2. B.D. Cullity, S.R. Stock, „ Elements of X-ray diffraction”, Prentice Hall Inc., 2001 3. D.B. Williams, C.B. Carter, Transmission electron microscopy, Plenum Press, 1996
