Description:
Students are introduced to the terminology used to describe the phenomena related to syntax. They learn how to identify sentence components and present the structure of utterances and sentences in graphic form (with the use of phrasal markers). Components of simple sentence and types of complex sentences are discussed. The module presents the relation between the structure of a sentence and its meaning.

Successful completion of previous linguistic modules.

The student fully understands issues discussed and can describe them in his/her own words (giving relevant examples). 4 – the student has good knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes (which does not go beyond the material presented by the lecturer). 3 – the student has sufficient knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes, but does not fully understands their complexity. 2 – the student has poor knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes, s/he does not understand the issues discussed, and does not know linguistic terminology.
