Description: | The aim of the module is to familiarize students with basic terminology and issues in the theory of second language acquisition and foreign language learning, and to develop their ability to perceive relationships between teaching practice and the theory behind it. Students learn about the main stages of second language acquisition, familiarise themselves with the basic terms, research problems and selected theories of SLA. Students also gain knowledge of first language acquisition and the role of age in second language learning. During discussions of selected SLA theories, students learn to notice relationships between theory and practice, and to analyse and evaluate the potential effectiveness of various teaching techniques. |
