Purpose and description of the content of education: | During the lecture, students familiarize themselves with the following topics:
Knowledge about cancer diseases, epidemiology, diagnosis, staging, prognosis, and treatment.
Tele-radiotherapy, brachytherapy, hyperthermia, chemical modifiers of radiation response.
Tumors: lungs, head and neck region, breast, female reproductive organs, gastrointestinal and urinary systems.
Complications after oncological treatment, supportive care.
In the laboratory part, the student:
Is able to operate radiographic and tomographic radiological equipment.
Is able to operate radiotherapeutic equipment for immobilization, treatment simulation, treatment plan evaluation, and patient irradiation, with an understanding of acute radiation reactions, the correlation between acute and late radiation reactions with treatment quality, concepts of critical organs and dose-volume histograms, clinical tele-radiotherapy, principles of clinical brachytherapy.
This course is mandatory for the specialization in Electroradiology. The lecture is followed by an exam. |
