---|---|
Module code: | W4-FM-S1-5-23-25 |
Programme code: | W4-S1FM19.2025 |
Semester: | winter semester 2027/2028 |
Language of instruction: | Polish |
Form of verification: | exam |
ECTS credits: | 3 |
Purpose and description of the content of education: | During the lecture, the student gets acquainted with the following topics:
Issues of the Atomic Law, including: definition and classification of radiation sources, dose limits, radiation emergency, emergency zone, plant emergency plan, nuclear safety program and conditions for obtaining a permit for activities involving exposure to ionizing radiation, etc.
Natural sources of ionizing radiation, cosmic rays, radioactive series.
Issues related to safe work in medical centers using ionizing radiation and in nuclear power plants, as well as regarding the storage of nuclear waste.
Calculation of doses from point sources of gamma radiation (including colligated beams) and neutrons, optimization of working conditions in exposure to ionizing radiation, determination of the range of electrons in various materials, determination of the thickness of semi-absorbent layers, calculation of doses from internal contamination.
During the seminar classes he makes the following calculations:
calculation of equivalent and effective doses, taking into account weighting factors related to the type of radiation and the irradiated tissue,
using the right of radioactive decay,
calculation of absorbed doses for gamma radiation from point sources, taking into account shielding and for colligated beams, estimating the range of electrons,
determination of laboratory classes, calculation of neutron doses based on the efficiency of sources,
calculation of doses from external contamination. |
