Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of this module is to develop basic translation competencies and to identify the predispositions and skills of students in the field of written translation. The classes are practical in nature and focus on building awareness of the translation process as well as the ability to work with source texts. Throughout the module, participants will become familiar with different types of simple text translations which will help them identify their translation preferences and potential. The classes include translation exercises from English into Polish and vice versa, with an emphasis on basic translation strategies and techniques, as well as an introduction to computer-assisted translation tools. This module serves as an introduction to further study in translation studies and specialized written translation.
