Purpose and description of the content of education:
The subject Local Communities and Tourism focuses on the analysis of the relationship between local communities and the dynamically developing tourism sector. During the course, students will become familiar with the theoretical and practical aspects of the impact of tourism on the lives of local communities, both in the context of benefits and challenges. The subject addresses issues related to culture, economics, the natural environment and the management of local resources in the context of tourism. Students will analyze case studies from different regions of the world to understand how communities adapt to changes caused by the influx of tourists and how they can actively participate in the development of sustainable tourism. The main objective of the subject Local Communities and Tourism is to familiarize students with the impact of tourism on local communities - to understand how tourism affects the everyday life, culture, traditions and economy of local communities, to develop the ability to analyze benefits and challenges - to identify both positive aspects (e.g. increase in income, development of infrastructure) and negative effects of tourism (e.g. environmental degradation, loss of cultural identity) and to prepare students to design sustainable solutions - to develop tourism strategies and projects that take into account the needs and perspectives of local communities, promoting sustainable development. Students will learn about the role of social participation in the development of sustainable tourism
