Module name: Chemical aspects of nuclear power
Module code: W4-TC-S1-6-CANP
Programme code: W4-S1TC19.2024
Semester: summer semester 2026/2027
Language of instruction: English
Form of verification: exam
ECTS credits: 3
Purpose and description of the content of education:
Introduction to nuclear chemistry: particles in atomic nucleus, isotopes, radioctivity, ionization radiation, half-lives of the radioactive isotopes, stability of the nucleus, processes of nuclear fission and fusion, energy of the nuclear processes, splitting of the U-235 isotope as a source of energy, nuclear reactors and nuclear waste utilization. Protection against hazardous ionization radiation, measurment of the radiation, safety issues in nuclar power usage.
