Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the module is to familiarise students with the impact of geological knowledge on the humanities, and their common areas of interest and goals of action; students will learn about the most important terms and content of the discussion on the Anthropocene, which takes place in the humanities and earth sciences, and will have the opportunity to learn about the mutual influence of these areas of knowledge on counteracting climate change. The module will contribute to familiarising students with the history of thought about the Earth and its impact on culture; students will learn about the profiles of influential thinkers and geologists, and the reasons for a renewed interest in geology in the humanities, connected with anti-extractivist social movements, decarbonisation, studies of the impact of pollution and degradation of the Earth on culture, and especially studies of the relationship between its past and the future of the planet.
