Purpose and description of the content of education: | The module introduces students to the issues concerning the loss or distraction of attention in an information-saturated environment; and its primary aim is to prepare them to study effectively in an 'ecology of attention' mode. On the theoretical side, attention is discussed as a resource that is subject to exploitation through a variety of mechanisms related to the gradual increase of information and the development of technology in the 20th and 21st centuries. Different types of attention and their associated cognitive modes and ways of reading or processing information are also presented. On the practical side, students learn about the ways of maintaining attention through creative work. |
