Purpose and description of the content of education: | The Composite Biomaterials module enables students to acquire knowledge about the application of composite materials in medical purposes. As a result, students will be able to classify these materials, determine the basic selection criteria, and understand the processes of biodegradation. Acquiring these skills will allow them to comprehend the relationship between the chemical, phase, and surface structure of composite biomaterials and their functional properties. Students will recognize that composite materials, composed of at least two components with different properties, represent a new material with superior properties compared to individual components. Additionally, students will familiarize themselves with current research trends related to the use of composite materials in medicine, where next-generation biomaterials aim to stimulate the regenerative processes of the body. |
