Purpose and description of the content of education: | The aim of the module is to equip the student with the basics of semiotic analysis of culture and communication (this is achieved through the introduction of basic notions and terms, introduction to main semiotic theories and research traditions). Within the framework of the module, the student subjects various fragments of reality to examination and interpretation as sign systems (from the simplest varieties of signs, occurring in everyday life situations, to complex varieties: literary, painting, film and theatre signs), practising the ability to recognise the sign character of various communications, including the influence of the sign matter on the meaning conveyed. |
