Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module aims to teach students to follow, intellectually analyze, and understand the contemporary world and the Polish political scene. Participants will acquire conceptual tools allowing them to understand current events and broader political processes. Some political systems of countries will be subjected to sociological analysis, with particular emphasis on the democratic state and the problem of civil society, also discussed in the context of the political transformation in Poland after 1989. The module aims to teach students to understand the challenges of representative democracy in the aftermath of the so-called crisis of representation, progressing globalization, and changes in world geopolitics. The knowledge gained during the course will allow students to take a more mature, professional, and critical look at the world of politics and the processes taking place in it.
