Purpose and description of the content of education:
The module aims to show students the importance of ethical reflection for a sociologist's theoretical, empirical-research and practical activities. The classes allow students to become aware of the multiplicity of professional roles in which a sociologist may appear, and to define the scopes of ethical responsibility and the criteria of ethical practice in each of these roles. The general ethical concepts introduced and recalled in the module serve as a basis for analysing specific moral dilemmas encountered by sociologists. The professional codes of ethics learnt in the course help resolve ethical issues occurring in research work, including intellectual property protection principles.
