Description:
Students continue learning about other language systems in English, i.e. phonological and morphological systems. Selected phonological processes are discussed (such as phonostylistic processes in rapid speech) as well as syllable structure, accent and rhythm in the English language. Students learn to compare phonemic systems and syllable structure in English and Polish. They are introduced to contemporary phonological theories. Basic morphological notions are explained and types of word-formation processes in English are discussed. Phenomena from the phonology-morphology interface are considered.

Student fully understands issues discussed and can describe them in his/her own words (giving relevant examples). 4 – student has good knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes (which does not go beyond the material presented by the lecturer). 3 – student has sufficient knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes, but does not fully understands their complexity. 2 – student has poor knowledge of issues discussed during lectures and classes, s/he does not understand the issues discussed, and does not know linguistic terminology.
