Description:
The module is organised in a phenomenon-oriented way. Unit 1: User needs: Who needs dictionaries? Unites 2-3: What is a dictionary? Components. Units 4-8: Dictionary entries: Lexicographic data: Repetition of basics concerning phonetics, phonology, morphology, word formation, syntax, semantics, pragmatics. Units 9-10: Dictionary typologies Unit 11: Historical aspects of lexicography, motivation of the society as a whole – relation to cultural science and social science Unit 12: What is lexicography and dictionary research? - relation to linguistics (to translating) Unit 13: Basics of computational lexicography (XML, databases, website design)
