Description: | The course aims to prepare students to present and write a master thesis. In the introductory part, the student will know formal aspects of master's theses preparation at the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia (and other higher education institutions). The thesis structure will be discussed with rules for formulating hypotheses and describing research methods, creating bibliography based on articles and scientific monographs, taking into account copyright issues, cross-references. Discussion of the topics proposed by potential supervisors is performed. In the course's central part, students based on selected topics of their future master's thesis present: the literature review of the chosen topic, the purpose and scope of research or/and research hypothesis, the research methodology, the concept, and prospectus of future master's thesis. The proseminar’s primary goal is developing the ability to formulate research problems by students, select appropriate methods of solutions, and develop competencies related to disseminating knowledge, with the preparation of a presentation. |
