Description:
The course presents a survey of significant challenges imposed on contemporary humanities by the rapid development of new media and the accompanying socio-cultural phenomena. The course discusses the meaning of metaphors associated with new media and novel communication technologies, as well as the new media’s impact on contemporary culture and society. Depending on the choices made by particular instructors in the course syllabus, the focus of the course may include selected theories of new media, the social and cultural aspects of social media platforms, various aspects of new media culture, etc.
