Description:
The aim of the course is to discuss the main state-building processes in Great Britain, with special emphasis on the history of monarchy and the formation of constitutional monarchy from the perspective of the history of conflicts between the sovereign and Parliament. The course covers the most important issues in the history of Great Britain, including the shaping of British national identity, Great Britain's relations with the world, and the formation of the country's cultural, social, and political identity. The lectures' goal is to raise the students' critical awareness of the various visions of history and their influence on other, interdisciplinary, research disciplines in the humanities.
