Description: | The course aims to introduce students to possible interpretations of digital games through the perspectives of literary studies and cultural theory. In terms of analytical skills, students learn to identify basic game-narrative strategies, inspired mostly by structuralist methodologies. In terms of interpretation, the course is based on the achievements of post-structuralist thought and narrative theory. Outside of the readings of selected games, the course also focuses on their influence on the cultural and social aspects of the digital game market. The course aims, as well, at a practical application of the discussed issues as creative inspiration and tools for a critical exploration of new products of culture. |
