Description:
The aim of this course is, on the one hand, to acquaint students with chosen problems of narrative studies (in literature, film, and video games), and, one the other, to encourage them to find practical applications of this theoretical knowledge through own work with draft plots of various types as applicable to these different media. The theoretical part of the course comprises elements of narratology, film theory, games studies and screenwriting. Special emphasis is placed on the ways in which different formal tools engage human cognitive and emotional processes, and on how this knowledge can be used in devising and developing new narrative ideas.
