Description: | The course presents a cross-sectional view of contemporary mass media (especially the new electronic media) analyzed in the contexts of contemporary culture and modern societies. The lectures and classes place particular emphasis on the culture-forming and social functions of mass media. Due to this particular approach, the course content is based on an interdisciplinary array of theories and research methods stemming from contemporary cultural studies of the media and other related research fields. |
