Description:
The course aims at introducing selected theories of popular culture that analyse phenomena and mechanisms responsible for the emergence of mass society to allow proper recognition, definition and identification of popular products / practices and their functioning within other fields of culture. The course embraces a series of lectures and workshops that explore characteristics of the popular and analyse its idiosyncrasies on the basis of critical and literary texts, in contexts that emphasise the dependence between cultural development and social phenomena.
