Description:
The course aims to develop students’ skills in applied or specialized translation in selected fields. The module offers a selection of practical courses, chosen by the students from detailed course proposals. Throughout the course students become familiar with the characteristics of applied or specialized translation practice, depending on varied communicative situations and the social contexts. Theoretical issues are discussed on the basis of sample translations or students' own work. Practical class activities help develop translation techniques, including – depending on students’ course selection – digital tools in translation practice, working with formal texts (official and business documents, etc.) or applied cultural texts (e.g. press articles, instructions, game documentation, etc.). The practical part of the course includes translation from both English into Polish and Polish into English.
