Description:
The module discusses the structure and operational mechanisms of Canadian governmental, municipal and local institutions, as well as other diverse cultural and social institutions and mass media in this country. It examines the most important processes shaping Canadian identities in a multicultural society. A special focus is put on the analysis of crucial aspects of Canadian political processes and theories explaining the functioning of multicultural and monocultural societies, fundamental demographic changes occurring in Canada, as well as co-related social tensions and debates taking place Canadian society. The study of this material requires an active participation of students in locating references to intercultural and international relations.
