Celem modułu jest zapoznanie słuchaczy ze ścisłym kanonem literatury amerykańskiej, od wieku XIX do czasów współczesnych, rozwijanie u studentów umiejętności ścisłej pracy z tekstem i jego interpretacji, motywowanie studentów do samodzielnej i twórczej pracy badawczej, oraz rozwijanie u studentów otwartości na kulturową odmienność i różnorodność poprzez krytyczną lekturę dzieł literatury amerykańskiej.
