Celem modułu jest zapoznanie studenta z następującym zakresem tematów: Literatura XIX-wieku : preromantyzm; romantyzm w powieści, poezji i dramacie; realizm, naturalizm, symbolizm; ewolucje powieści : Hugo, Balzac, Stendhal, Flaubert, Zola, Goncourt; nowelistyka pomiędzy fantastyką i realizmem (Mérimée, Maupassant) Literatura XX wieku : - powieściopisarstwo (France, Proust, Gide, Giono, Mauriac, Bernanos, Malraux, Exupéry, Camus, Sartre, Duras, Robbe-Grillet, Tournier, Perec, Yourcenar) poezja (Apollinaire, Claudel, Breton), teatr (Jarry, Claudel, Beckett, Ionesco); główne zjawiska literackie i nurty : awangarda i modernizm; powieść autoteliczna, powieść-rzeka, powieść katolicka, egzystencjalizm, nowa powieść, teatr absurdu, mitotwórstwo.
