Description:
The aim of the course is to present to the students the basic concepts of European Union law, in particular those related to the functioning of the fundamental freedoms of the common/internal market. Therefore, the student is to acquire knowledge of the mechanisms and modes of operation of the institutions and other bodies of the European Union, their law-making competences, instruments to control law enforcement, as well as the legal basis for free movement of goods, free movement of people, free movement of services and free movement of capital. The description of the legal bases of the internal market’s institutions is also supplemented with the respective case-law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. In addition to the necessary theoretical knowledge, the student acquires the ability to distinguish the relationship between European Union law and Polish law, learns to apply the principles of European Union law (including the principle of direct effect and supremacy of Union law) and use the instruments of legal protection available within various European Union institutions.
