Description: | Physical culture at university should constitute an integral and complementary part of a higher education curriculum. Physical culture comprises physical education, recreation, sport and tourism. It is the only course providing the possibility of pursuing values referring to the body and health and counterbalancing intellectual work, which is often a considerable strain for the students. It should take into account the changing reality and participate in the process of preparing the student for adult professional life, as well as family and social life. The aims of the classes in this module are to teach technical elements in a selected sport, consolidate skills acquired during earlier stages of education, equip students with the essential body of knowledge concerning physical culture, familiarize students with the history and rules of sports, familiarize students with the organization of competitions, as well as recreational and tourist events, develop self-esteem, encourage health-conscious attitudes, enhance cooperation skills and discipline and, finally, present the influence of physical activity on the human body, health and hygiene (work – rest balance).
