Databases on materials Field of study: Materials Science and Engineering
Programme code: 08-S1MAA16.2017

Module name: Databases on materials
Module code: IM1A_BDOM
Programme code: 08-S1MAA16.2017
Semester: winter semester 2019/2020
Language of instruction: English
Form of verification: course work
ECTS credits: 4
Description:
The Databases on materials module shall enable students learning the knowledge related to the databases, with particular focus on relational databases. Students gain the knowledge about possibilities and applications of modern database systems as well as are prepared to create own databases. Owing to that students are capable of using skilfully and in a complex way the databases for the needs of engineering applications. Students shall master the knowledge about IT databases on materials, which comprise the computer software and internet databases.
Prerequisites:
It is required to achieve effects of education of information science and IT, metals and alloys, ceramics and polymers modules.
Key reading:
1. Banachowski Lech: Bazy danych. Tworzenie aplikacji. Akademicka Oficyna Wydawnicza PLJ, Warszawa, 1998. 2. R.M. Riordan, Projektowanie Systemów Relacyjnych Baz Danych, Wydawnictwo RM, Warszawa 2000 3. Ullman, J.D., J. Widom: Podstawowy wykład z systemów baz danych. WNT, Warszawa, 1999.
