Description: | The module Quasi-crystalline materials familiarises students with basic issues related to aperiodic materials structure. The specific nature of quasi-crystals structure dissimilarity translates into surprising properties of quasi-crystals. Students acquire knowledge in the field of non-conventional symmetry classes and space groups used to describe quasi-crystals. They learn basic structural units explaining spatial configurations of atoms in quasi-crystals. They expand the range of engineering materials. |
