Purpose and description of the content of education: | The module develops the ability to analyze and interpret a variety of cultural texts - literary and non-literary - included in the so-called canon of cultural heritage. Students are introduced to contemporary models of describing cultural phenomena and research methods appropriate to various traditions and schools of research. The classes emphasize: understanding culture as a system of signs and social practices; analysis of the functions of works of culture (aesthetic, communicative, social, cognitive, ludic); phenomena of multiculturalism and interpenetration of cultural influences: critical approach to the canon and processes of reception of texts as sources of knowledge and tools of communication. The module prepares for conscious participation in culture and for working with cultural texts as carriers of meanings and values in the context of contemporary social and media transformations.
