Purpose and description of the content of education:
The aim of the module is to acquaint students with the issues of implementing and operating computer systems for managing library processes, as well as to enable them to independently work in selected systems. Students will learn about contemporary tools for managing information and resources in the library, learn to work independently in selected systems, and efficiently search for information using learned tools. Students will understand the development trends of contemporary library systems and be prepared to follow changes in the information technology market in library applications. They will be able to assess and compare software available on the market, choose the right library program depending on the needs of the library and its users, and propose more functional/new solutions.

Osoba studiująca ma wiedzę o komputerowych systemach zarządzania informacją i zasobami w bibliotece, w tym o zintegrowanych systemach bibliotecznych i platformach usług bibliotecznych, współczesnych katalogach, bibliotekach cyfrowych. Zna ich budowę i funkcje. Posiada wiedzę nt. organizacji danych bibliograficznych i czynników wpływających na efektywność wyszukiwania informacji we współczesnych zasobach informacyjnych bibliotek, ośrodków informacyjnych i innych instytucji kultury. Rozumie problematykę integracji wyszukiwania informacji i zna narzędzia dostępu do informacji wykorzystywane w bibliotekach, potrafi je ocenić oraz formułować wnioski służące ich doskonaleniu.
