Purpose and description of the content of education: | The aim of the module is to acquaint the student with the conceptual and terminological framework of Roman law. Within the module, the student learns about various institutions of Roman law, their origins, evolution, and the historical and social mechanisms that influenced their formation and transformation. The student also acquires the ability to critically analyze legal texts characteristic of Roman law and, based on them, propose a solution to a simple legal problem.
The module also aims to highlight the factors influencing specific legal solutions, including socio-economic conditions and ethical attitudes related to the creation and application of law. It demonstrates the relationships between institutions characteristic of Roman law and other legal systems, emphasizing its importance in the formation of the European legal tradition.
Topics covered include the systematics of Roman law, sources of Roman law, the reception of Roman law, the Roman civil procedure, personal law, property law, the law of obligations, inheritance law, family law, and the Roman roots of modern civil law. |
